Description

Sodium cyanide is a highly toxic chemical compound with the formula NaCN. It appears as a white, water-soluble solid and has a faint odor reminiscent of bitter almonds. This compound is primarily used in the mining industry to extract gold and other precious metals from their ores. Its high reactivity with metals and its ability to form strong complexes make it an essential reagent in various industrial processes.

Application

Extraction of Gold and Sliver from ores, electroplating, Heat of metals (case hardening), making hydrocyanic acid, as an intermediate for the production of Agrochemicals, cleaning metals, manufacture of dyes and pigments, Nylon intermediates, ore flotation and also used as an intermediate for production of many organic chemicals and pharmaceutical intermediates.

Production Process

light oil cracking method: light oil and ammonia are mixed in proportion in an atomizer, preheated to 280 ° C., cracked in an electric arc furnace, and petroleum is used as a carrier, ammonia gas is used as protective gas for closed anti-oxidation, and the temperature is 1450 ℃, the reaction generates hydrocyanic acid gas. After dust removal and cooling, the pure hydrocyanic acid is obtained by Ammonia removal, water washing, absorption and rectification, then Sodium cyanide is produced by absorption with alkali solution.
