Thiourea

Thiourea is one of the important collectors, which can improve the hydrophobic degree of the mineral surface, so that it is easy to adhere to the bubble, so as to improve the mineral floatability. Specifically, thiourea and its derivatives are used as flotation collectors for non-ferrous and precious metal minerals in the flotation of metallic ores. For example, a specific thiourea compound, N-benzoyl-N '-alkoxypropyl thiourea, is used to increase the hydrophobicity of the mineral surface, thereby enhancing the mineral's floatability. In addition, thiourea and its derivatives occupy a place in sulfide collectors, which are characterized by the molecular interior usually has a hydrophobic group composed of divalent sulfur atoms, while the molecular weight of the hydrophobic group is small, and has a trapping effect on sulfide minerals, but does not have a trapping effect on gangue minerals such as quartz and calcite. These properties of thiourea and its derivatives make them play an important role in mineral processing ‌
