Description

Paraformaldehyde (PFA) is the smallest polyoxymethylene, the polymerization product of formaldehyde with a typical degree of polymerization of 8–100 units. Paraformaldehyde commonly has a slight odor of formaldehyde due to decomposition. Paraformaldehyde is a poly-acetal.

Application

PFA is widely used for manufacturing resins, like Phenolic resins, Amino resins and many other surface coating resins. In addition, PFA is used in paper industries for coating, in leather industry for making chemical preservative and in fertilizers industries. PFA is also used for pest control and as a disinfectant in industries as well as in homes.
