Description
Tolyltriazole, also known as 4 (5)-methyl Benzotriazole, is one of the chemicals used in industry for which various applications have been defined.TTA is a product that protects against galvanic corrosion by other metals. It is structurally very similar to benzotriazole and is used in Water cooling systems, brake and Hydraulic fluids, Automotive coolants (Antifreeze), and other Lubricants.
Application
The most important application of Tolyltriazole is its use as a corrosion inhibitor in metals. In general, corrosion occurs due to chemical or electrochemical agents and can cause damage to tanks and industrial equipment that are in contact with fluids, especially saline water. By using anti-corrosion materials and agents, in addition to protecting and increasing the life of the equipment, the health of the people who deal with this equipment and the environment can also be protected, because working with worn-out devices can affect the safety and health of people.
It is a water-stabilizing chemical that binds to metal parts and machine surfaces to prevent corrosion. In fact, it creates an electrochemical barrier that is thick enough to limit contact with corrosive chemicals. This barrier is very durable and has good oxidative and thermal stability. Using a combination of BTA and TTA together is more effective in preventing the corrosion process and is a good option for protecting metals such as copper and its alloys, steel, nickel, cadmium, and gray iron.
