It is used as a raw material for making iron blue and red blood salt; for tanning, metal surface anti-corrosion treatment, carbon steel carburizing treatment, iron removal in pharmaceuticals, oxidant, food additive, explosive and chemical reagent. Used as an additive to melt snow in winter and prevent caking.
